What counts as a stellium here
A stellium is a cluster of planets packed into one part of the chart. On this site we use a clear rule: three or more of the ten planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury through Pluto) in the same sign. When you give a birth time, we also check each house for three or more planets.
Some astrologers ask for four planets, or also count the nodes and angles. We list every planet in each cluster, so you can apply a stricter rule if you prefer.
Sign stellium or house stellium
A sign stellium needs only the birth date in most cases, since planets other than the Moon move slowly. A house stellium needs the exact time, because houses depend on the rising degree, which turns through the whole zodiac in about a day.
The two can differ. Three planets late in Gemini and early in Cancer form no sign stellium, yet they may share one house. Our tool reports both kinds side by side.
How astrologers read a cluster
A stellium is read as a spotlight. The sign is thought to flavor a large share of the personality, and the house shows where in life that energy gathers. A cluster holding the Sun or Moon is usually weighed more heavily than one made only of slow outer planets, which everyone born over several years may share.
Stellium in each sign
Aries stellium: Astrologers link a crowd of planets in Aries with a quick start and a low tolerance for waiting. The person is often read as someone who acts first and reflects later, who enjoys a clear challenge, and who may find routine work hard to sit through unless there is something to win.
Taurus stellium: A Taurus cluster is traditionally read as steady, sensual and slow to change course. Comfort, good food, music and things that last are common themes. Astrologers often describe this placement as patient and loyal, with a stubborn streak that shows when someone tries to rush a decision.
Gemini stellium: Several planets in Gemini are linked with a busy, curious mind that collects facts, stories and people. Talk, reading and short trips are classic themes. Astrologers note a restless side too, with interest jumping from one subject to the next before the first one is finished.
Cancer stellium: In Cancer, a stellium is read as a strong pull toward home, family and memory. Feelings run deep and protective instincts are strong. Astrologers often describe these people as caretakers who remember birthdays and old wounds alike, and who need a safe place to recharge after time in public.
Leo stellium: A Leo cluster is associated with warmth, pride and a wish to be seen. Creative play, performance and generosity are central themes. Tradition reads this placement as big-hearted and loyal, though it may also point to a need for appreciation that feels hurt when effort goes unnoticed.
Virgo stellium: Astrologers tie a Virgo stellium to careful work, useful skills and an eye for detail. The person is often read as a fixer who improves systems, routines and texts. The same focus can turn inward as self-criticism, so the tradition pairs this cluster with lessons about good enough.
Libra stellium: Several planets in Libra are linked with fairness, beauty and a life built around partnership. Diplomacy comes naturally, and so does a dislike of open conflict. Astrologers read this cluster as thoughtful about other people's views, sometimes so thoughtful that choosing one side takes a long time.
Scorpio stellium: A Scorpio cluster is read as intense, private and drawn to what lies under the surface. Trust is given slowly and kept for life. Tradition connects this placement with research, shared resources and emotional honesty, along with a strong memory for both loyalty and betrayal.
Sagittarius stellium: In Sagittarius, a stellium is associated with big questions, travel and a love of learning. Astrologers describe an optimistic, outspoken person who wants room to roam, in miles or in ideas. Bluntness is the classic shadow, since honesty can arrive before tact does.
Capricorn stellium: A Capricorn cluster is linked with ambition, structure and long-range plans. Tradition reads it as serious early in life and lighter with age, with a dry sense of humor. Responsibility tends to land on these shoulders, and astrologers note a habit of measuring worth by what has been built.
Aquarius stellium: Astrologers tie an Aquarius stellium to independent thinking, friendship and causes larger than the self. New ideas and technology are classic themes. The person is often read as warm toward groups yet cool in close one-on-one moments, and quick to question rules that seem pointless.
Pisces stellium: Several planets in Pisces are read as imaginative, gentle and highly tuned to mood. Art, music, spirituality and compassion are central themes. Tradition also notes porous boundaries, with other people's feelings easily absorbed, so quiet time alone is often described as essential for this cluster.
